8 Day Liberty Series

8 Day Liberty Series

From Foundations to Advanced Liberty & Bridleless

A Two-Part 4-Day Liberty Horsemanship Program for Every Level

The Liberty Series is a two-part, four-day (8-days total) training experience designed to take you and your horse from the foundations of liberty or bridleless work through to advanced communication, refinement, and performance-level skills.

This program is suitable for riders and handlers of all experience levels. Every participant receives one-on-one guidance, allowing each session to be fully tailored to individual goals, challenges, and learning pace.

Whether you are just beginning your liberty journey or refining advanced work, this series provides a clear, supportive pathway to deeper connection and confident partnership.

ABOUT THE LIBERTY SERIES

Drawing on over a decade of experience working at liberty and bridleless, Kelly has developed a repeatable, proven pattern that allows riders to build genuine connection, clarity, and trust with their horses.

This method enhances your understanding of equine body language, improves problem-solving skills, and provides practical tools for working through behavioural challenges in a positive and constructive way.

The foundations taught in this series are also used in the taming of wild horses, making this program an ideal stepping stone for anyone interested in developing their horsemanship ahead of working with Kaimanawa or other wild horses.

WHO THIS PROGRAM IS FOR

The Liberty Series is ideal for:

• Riders and handlers of all experience levels

• Liberty and bridleless enthusiasts, from beginners through to advanced level

• Aspiring wild horse trainers

• Horse owners seeking a deeper connection

• Trainers wanting to refine their communication and problem solving skills

No previous liberty experience is required. Each participant is supported at their individual level.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

Weekend One — Liberty or Bridleless Foundations

In the first weekend, participants choose their focus—liberty or bridleless—and learn the core foundations of body control and communication.

You will work on hindquarter and shoulder yields, reinback, and sidepass, either at liberty or under saddle.

By the end of Weekend One, the aim is for your horse to:

• Confidently understand foundational movements

• Complete figure-eight patterns around the round yard

• Navigate a simple obstacle course at liberty or bridleless

• Respond calmly and clearly to body language cues

This weekend establishes the language and structure that supports all future progress.

Weekend Two — Liberty or Bridleless Refinement

Weekend Two focuses on refinement, precision, and deeper communication.

Participants will build on their foundations, developing softness, consistency, and confidence in larger and more dynamic environments.

By the end of Weekend Two, your horse should be able to:

• Offer multiple soft steps of sidepass and reinback

• Maintain connection in expanded working areas

• Complete more complex obstacle courses at liberty

• Demonstrate improved focus and recall

This stage prepares horses and riders for advanced liberty, freestyle, and bridleless performance work.

LEARNING EXPERIENCE

Throughout both weekends, Kelly works with client horses to give demonstrations, showcasing how to teach a wide range of liberty and bridleless movements.

Participants see how foundational work develops into advanced routines, giving them a clear and realistic pathway toward their own performance goals.

All sessions are structured around:

• One-on-one coaching

• Guided practice

• Real-time feedback

• Individual problem-solving

• Confidence building

This ensures every participant leaves with practical, repeatable skills.

FROM “UNATTAINABLE” TO ACHIEVABLE

For many people, liberty and bridleless work can feel out of reach, something reserved for elite riders or lifelong professionals.

This program is designed to change that perception.

Kelly’s style of horsemanship creates a repeatable liberty and bridleless patter that works for wild horses, domestic horses, and rescue horses. The foundations are simple, logical, and deeply understandable for the horse.

When taught correctly:

• Horses remain relaxed

• Communication stays clear

• Learning accelerates naturally

• Confidence grows on both sides

Progress becomes achievable, sustainable, and enjoyable.

BUILDING LASTING CONNECTION

Beyond movements and patterns, this series focuses on developing true partnership.

Participants consistently report a stronger emotional connection, improved mutual trust, clearer communication  and reduced behavioural challenges.

Many find the experience transformational, reshaping how they relate to their horses both on the ground and under saddle.
